Operating since 1994, the Rainbow Foundation is an Ageing Well Centre of Excellence that works to improve the health and wellbeing of our communities through a range of interventions and services.

What we do….
We deliver outstanding services which promote active ageing, good mental health and wellbeing, and reduce loneliness and isolation.
The Rainbow Foundation’s Strategic Approach sets out how we deliver these services in line with our organisational vision. It is informed by the local needs of our community, directly addressing determinants of active ageing and best practice approaches to combating loneliness.
This consists of delivering:
- Foundation services that actively identify and connect with individuals experiencing loneliness, working to understand the root causes of their isolation and guiding them toward appropriate support and community resources.
- Direct interventions to build confidence with a focus on nurturing meaningful relationships, boosting self-esteem, and empowering individuals to engage more fully in their communities.
- Gateway services that enable participation. Practical enablers such as community transport and digital inclusion initiatives help remove barriers, ensuring people can access opportunities and stay connected.
- Community-drive structural support that champions volunteering, peer support, and positive ageing. Our work challenges negative stereotypes and fosters inclusive, age-friendly communities.
