VOLUNTEERING

Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, use existing skills, gain experience in our community and have fun. The act of helping others can provide a sense of belonging, purpose and satisfaction and has been proven to increase your own health and wellbeing.

Volunteering with The Rainbow Foundation is about more than giving your time — it’s about standing alongside people, building confidence, and helping create a fairer, kinder community for everyone.

Every volunteer plays a vital role in helping individuals feel safe, valued and supported. Whether you’re offering practical help, emotional support or simply showing up consistently, what you do matters.

Make a Real Difference — Every Single Day

When you volunteer with us, you directly support people who may feel isolated, unheard or unsure where to turn. Your time helps individuals regain confidence, build independence and feel part of their community again.

You’ll see the impact of your involvement — often in small moments that mean everything to someone else.

Be Part of a Supportive, Inclusive Community

The Rainbow Foundation is built on kindness, respect and inclusion. Volunteers are welcomed as part of our team from day one.

You don’t need to “fit a mould” — we value people for who they are and what they bring. You’ll be supported, encouraged and appreciated, with opportunities to connect with others who share the same values.

Learn, Grow and Build Confidence

Volunteering is a chance to develop new skills, gain experience and grow in confidence. You’ll learn practical skills, enhance your communication and gain insight that’s valuable both personally and professionally.

We provide guidance, training and ongoing support, so you’re never left feeling unsure or overwhelmed.

Flexible Volunteering That Fits Around You

We understand that everyone’s circumstances are different. That’s why we offer a range of volunteering opportunities with flexibility around time and commitment.

Whether you can help regularly or occasionally, your time is valued and respected.

AN AWARD WINNING VOLUNTEER TEAM

Rainbow Volunteers Rod and Ali are recognised as the heroes they are

Two of our volunteers Rod and Ali have been awarded the Later Life Hero award from Age Connects North East Wales.

The award is in recognition for their work with The Rainbow Foundation Lunch Clubs, Meals on Wheels, Befriending and all the support they gave people during the height of the pandemic.

A massive well done to them both for this well deserved recognition.

Rainbow volunteers receives recognition from the High Sheriff of Clwyd

In 2022 our Rainbow volunteers were awarded with a High Sheriff of Clwyd Community Award in recognition of the vital work they selflessly carried out during the pandemic to support the communities around in and around Penley.

The High Sheriff said: “It was such a pleasure to meet you at the High Sheriff Community Awards to learn more about the amazing volunteering work which you do for the benefit of our community. You make a huge difference to our society and I was honored to have the opportunity to recognise you personally.”

Well done and congratulations to all our Rainbow Meals volunteers and a thank you for all your hard work and support. We really couldn’t do what we do without you.
